Discussion Paper

The second independent review of the Product Stewardship (Oil) Act 2000 (the Act) is currently underway. The Act underpins the Product Stewardship for Oil program.
The Act requires that an independent review of the Act and related legislation be undertaken every four years.
The second independent review is being conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers, who have released a discussion paper for public consultation. The views and opinions expressed in the discussion paper are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the Australian Government or the Minister for the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.
Comment is invited on the discussion paper and any other matters relating to the Product Stewardship for Oil program. The closing date for comments is Friday 7 November 2008.

Stakeholder roundtables will be held in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne in October 2008. Further information on the roundtables is on page 5 of the Discussion Paper.
The independent review is expected to be completed in December 2008.
